Shitanshu Kusmakar is a MIPP Alumnus. He graduated with his PhD from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Melbourne supervised by Prof Marimtuthu Palaniswami, Prof M Ramanathan and Dr Jayavardhana Gubbi.
His research project focussed on working on ubiquitous health monitoring devices in Biomedical signal processing and on the development of innovative solutions to healthcare issues by adopting information and communication technology in healthcare, to have a significant and immediate impact in improving patients’ quality of life.
He investigated the use of wearable sensors in the detection of neurological disorders like epilepsy and stroke, with a focus on developing an automated easy to wear ambulatory monitoring device.
Shitnshu completed Masters in Clinical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras and Bachelors of Engineering in Biotechnology from Thapar University Punjab. Before, joining University of Melbourne for PhD, he worked as a Clinical Applications Engineer at R&D Centre HTIC, set up by IITM and Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India.
