Polymerization in Green Solvents

Research Project Summary: I am working on the controlled radical polymerisation of acrylates and methacryaltes. In particular, I study RAFT polymerisation in Ionic liquids. Ionic liquids are used both as solvents as well catalysts in polymerization process. Also, I study the influence of power ultrasound in the synthesis of polymers. Overall, the project is aimed at integrating Green chemistry and Sustainability in the Polymer synthesis.

Student Profile: I have a Bachelor’s degree in Rubber and Plastics Technology from Madras Institute of Technology, Anna University, India and a Masters’ Degree in Materials Science from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. I have done my Masters’ thesis work in Leibnitz Institute for Polymer Research, Dresden, Germany and I have some research experience from Tampere University of Technology, Tampere Finland.

Project Duration: 2016 – 2021
